Welcome to episode 118 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.
Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in the United States and Europe.
Today's guest is Jaroslav Blaha, CEO at CellmatiQ in Hamburg. Founded in 2018, CellmatiQ develops an artificial intelligence platform for the automatic detection of relevant structures in medical images (e.g. dental X-rays) to support healthcare professionals in their diagnostics. The technology is equally applicable to industrial problems, like automatic analysis of structural features or anomalies of machine parts from images.
Cephalometric x-ray images are the diagnostic backbone of today’s dental practice; ranging from detection of caries or periodontal diseases via root canal treatments and prosthodontics to maxillofacial oncology. Their first product DentaliQ automates the identification of relevant diagnostic points in x-rays and reduces the analysis time from circa 15 minutes to mere seconds - thereby allowing dentists to focus more on their diagnostics and treatment plans.
In the show, Jaroslav will tell you about:
CellmatiQ’s work in the medical imaging space
Benefits their products bring to clients, particularly in dentistry
Creating a simple toolbox to scale several AI products
The importance of getting your AI products medically certified
Advice to companies on how to obtain medical certification
How Germany can compete in becoming a global AI leader
The need to improve the EU’s data governance ecosystem
