AI in Action E167: Benn Stancil, President and Founder at Mode

,  | January 20 2021 | JP Valentine

Welcome to episode 167 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.

Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in the United States and Europe.

Today’s guest is Benn Stancil, President and Founder at Mode in San Francisco. Benn founded Mode in 2013 along with Derek Steer and Josh Ferguson. While working in analytics at Yammer, they saw Amazon Redshift and other cloud-based data warehouses making it possible for companies of all sizes – not just tech giants – to gather and analyze data.

The trio recognized the need for a collaborative platform designed for people who work on the frontier of data analysis, one that would streamline analyst workflows and make it possible to share insightful and actionable data across entire organizations. With that, Mode’s Analytics Platform was born to help data analysts and data scientists analyze, visualize and share data.

In the episode, Benn will discuss:

The journey to setting up his own company

How he went about building a successful team at Mode

What makes them stand out from the competition

Key learns on building a tech startup from the ground up

Challenges the data analytics work on day-to-day

Why he loves his job & what the future holds for Mode

Exciting career opportunities at Mode
