Director of Engineering – Multimodal Synthetic Data

Our client are utilizing advanced models to protect against both current and emerging fabrication techniques. As a leading solution for detecting and deterring fraudulent text, audio, and visual content, they partner with government agencies and enterprise clients to enhance security and prevent fraud.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, construction, and scaling of our backend data infrastructure, encompassing data acquisition, pipelines, and warehousing, utilizing cutting-edge data engineering technologies to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Manage the creation, acquisition, cleaning, and analysis of data used to generate models for detecting deepfakes in various formats, including video, image, audio, and text.

• Possess a thorough understanding of video, image, and audio file formats, including compression techniques, codec standards, metadata handling, and the impact on quality and compatibility across different platforms and devices, as well as the implications for model training.

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and management to Data Engineering teams, focusing on developing and maintaining robust, scalable AI platforms and capabilities.

• Collaborate across the organization with teams such as Product, Applied Science, Applied Engineering, and Platform & Product Engineering.

Qualifications

• BS (MS preferred) in Computer Science or a related field.

• Over 10 years of experience in technology leadership roles, including leading Data Engineering teams, with a proven track record of managing diverse teams and a strong passion for innovation.

• Hands-on experience in developing datasets, data engineering, and related tools.

• Responsible for architecting and updating infrastructure needs, handling real-time data processing, and understanding machine learning and AI, as well as building infrastructure, services, and scalable technology stacks.

• Excellent communication skills, fostering collaboration and empathy across the organization with both internal and external stakeholders. Ability to engage and motivate a distributed, mission-driven team.
