Our client are a data-driven innovator in the Life Sciences industry and they’re hiring a Python Backend Engineer with skills in Machine Learning to join the team in Chicago. The successful candidate will play a key role in an organization that directly influences patient health, pharmaceutical research and the broader Life Sciences field.

Responsibilities

As the Python Backend Engineer, you will develop and apply machine learning methods to both proprietary and open-access datasets.
You will leverage large-scale datasets to formulate statistically driven research hypotheses.
Employ rigorous statistical techniques to test and assess research hypotheses.
Offer expert technical guidance and support for designing and analyzing experiments.
Collaborate and work independently to create data analysis and machine learning solutions.
Implement, assess, and enhance natural language processing (NLP) algorithms on extensive datasets.

Skillset

Ph.D. or Master’s degree in systems biology, bioinformatics, computational biology, data science or machine learning.
Minimum of three years of industry experience.
Extensive experience in applying machine learning techniques to large-scale datasets.
Proficiency in R or Python.
Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Torch, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
Familiarity with Atlassian JIRA.
Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs).
