About the job
- Seeking a Bioinformatics Data Scientist to work within the Data Science and Management function
- Partner with scientists to use knowledge of Genomics, Data Science, Machine Learning and Predictive modeling to execute an analysis that will impact Plant and Human Health projects.
- Expected to extract useful biological insights from large, complicated data sets from different sources
- Have experience working with large and diverse biological datasets
- Experience handling High-throughput data generation techniques
- Deep domain expertise in computational solutions targeted at Molecular Biology
Responsibilities
- Derive biological insights/conclusions from the outputs of bioinformatics analysis
- Design automated workflows
- Design and apply data processing models to large-scale multi-omics datasets
- Design and build data pipelines
- Translate internally generated and externally sourced biological data into well-curated datasets for machine learning
- Perform statistical analyses
- Train ML models on large biological datasets such as NGS-derived and others
- Translate data into biological knowledge, and communicate findings
- Collaborate with other scientific staff members within and outside the R&D group
- Document results of analyses and investigations in a reproducible manner
Required Background
- PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field
- 2+ years of Biopharma or Healthcare industry experience
- Experience with sequence analysis, proteomics, or related computational biology/bioinformatics areas
- 2+ years Multi-omics experience
- Strong coding skills in Python
- Experience with R as a toolset
- Knowledge of machine learning
- Experience developing algorithms
- Scientific data analysis expertise
- Experience with high-performance computing environments
- Cloud infrastructure experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud (Azure preferred)
- Experience with JIRA, Trello, Confluence and GitHub
Preferred Background
- 3+ years experience in an agricultural industry (not mandatory)
