Bioinformatics Team Lead

Position Overview:

• Seeking an impactful and collaborative Bioinformatics Team Lead
• Work within Data Science and Bioinformatics teams 
• Manage partnership and deliver key objectives for Plant/Animal/Human Health teams 
• Lead a small team of PhD-level Bioinformatics scientists

Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and execution of bioinformatics workflows and algorithms
• Derive actionable insights/conclusions from biological data sets
• Lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists
• Partner with Human, Plant and Animal Health teams. 
• Deliver value-creation through bioinformatics analyses
• Design and implement data processing models to large-scale multi-omics datasets
• Maintain and update in-house bioinformatics algorithms
• Translate data into actionable biological insights
• Align with managers on project priorities
• Lead and motivate team members
• Ensure software development standards are followed

Required Experience:

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Agriculture, Computational Biology
• 5 years work experience
• Experience in Plant Health, Animal Health or Human Health
• 1+ year management experience
• Experience in programming with Python and R
• Experience utilizing next generation sequencing data
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong experiences communicating with stakeholders and peers
• Strong experiences managing self and team workload
• Experience leveraging a wide variety of public and custom-developed bioinformatics tools and datasets
• Experience developing algorithms for biological problems
• Industry experience in RNA, Molecular Biology, and/or Gene Expression
• Experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud (Azure preferred)
