Bioinformatics Scientist (Entomology)

Position Overview:

• Seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist 
• Work on the Data Science and Bioinformatics team
• Partner with the Plant Health Entomology team
• Apply your knowledge of Genomics, NGS, Bioinformatics, ML and Biological Computing 
• Be integrally involved in Plant Health Discovery Research
• Use algorithm design and workflow development to support biological hypotheses creation

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement automated bioinformatics workflows
• Design and implement data processing models
• Translate data into actionable biological insights
• Perform bioinformatics analyses
• Continuously align with reporting manager and project manager
• Partner closely with Plant health Entomology stakeholders
• Document code and experiments

 Required Experience:

• PhD in Entomology or a related field
• Familiarity with concepts in Crop Protection, Insect-plant interactions, Insect molecular biology, functional/structural genomics and/or RNAi
• 2 years of experience in performing bioinformatics 
• 3 years of programming experience with Python and R
• Expertise utilizing and configuring public and custom bioinformatics tools and workflows
• Solid, demonstrable experience developing algorithms
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to present complex results
• Must see assignments through to completion
• Must possess team working ability
• Must have Post-PhD Academia or Industry experience
• Experience with reproducible code frameworks such as JIRA, Trello, Confluence and GitHub
• Experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
