Our client, a forward-thinking financial services firm, is hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in London. The successful candidate will drive the evolution of AI-assisted development within the organisation and help shape the future of AI in software engineering.

Responsibilities

Drive the implementation of AI-assisted development tools, including chat-based agents and code review accelerators.
Architect and develop in-house AI-driven tools that seamlessly integrate with existing engineering workflows.
Leverage internal data to apply techniques such as fine-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation for tailored AI solutions.
Build and maintain robust integrations between AI systems and internal platforms to enhance contextual relevance and usability.
Define and track key metrics to evaluate AI tool performance and inform strategic investment decisions.
Establish and promote best practices for secure, observable and ethical AI usage in software development.
Monitor the evolving AI landscape and identify opportunities to bring emerging technologies into real-world engineering applications.
Partner closely with developers to validate ideas, collect feedback and continuously improve AI-powered tools.

Skillset

Solid engineering foundation with advanced proficiency in Python and additional experience in C++ and C#.
In-depth knowledge of developer workflows and how to enhance them through AI integration.
Hands-on experience designing and deploying LLM-based tools in production environments.
Skilled in prompt engineering, embeddings and fine-tuning to tailor LLM performance for specific use cases.
Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to evaluating developer productivity and tool impact.
Strategic understanding of the trade-offs between third-party APIs, open-source models and in-house AI solutions.
