Our client, a forward-thinking financial services firm, is hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in London. The successful candidate will drive the evolution of AI-assisted development within the organisation and help shape the future of AI in software engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation of AI-assisted development tools, including chat-based agents and code review accelerators.

  • Architect and develop in-house AI-driven tools that seamlessly integrate with existing engineering workflows.

  • Leverage internal data to apply techniques such as fine-tuning and retrieval-augmented generation for tailored AI solutions.

  • Build and maintain robust integrations between AI systems and internal platforms to enhance contextual relevance and usability.

  • Define and track key metrics to evaluate AI tool performance and inform strategic investment decisions.

  • Establish and promote best practices for secure, observable and ethical AI usage in software development.

  • Monitor the evolving AI landscape and identify opportunities to bring emerging technologies into real-world engineering applications.

  • Partner closely with developers to validate ideas, collect feedback and continuously improve AI-powered tools.

Skillset

  • Solid engineering foundation with advanced proficiency in Python and additional experience in C++ and C#.

  • In-depth knowledge of developer workflows and how to enhance them through AI integration.

  • Hands-on experience designing and deploying LLM-based tools in production environments.

  • Skilled in prompt engineering, embeddings and fine-tuning to tailor LLM performance for specific use cases.

  • Strong analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to evaluating developer productivity and tool impact.

  • Strategic understanding of the trade-offs between third-party APIs, open-source models and in-house AI solutions.
