Zero Trust Sr. Network SME/Architect
Our client, a growing IT Solutions provider, are hiring a Senior Network Subject Matter Expert/Architect with skills in Zero Trust technology to join their Virginia team on a long-term contract. The successful candidate will lead the design and delivery of innovative solutions for federal government programs, architecting and implementing Zero Trust frameworks to strengthen the cybersecurity posture of critical government systems.
Responsibilities

Design and implement advanced Zero Trust architectures and strategies tailored to the unique challenges of federal government environments.

Lead the development of Zero Trust models, including identity and access management, network segmentation, encryption and secure access controls across government systems.

Provide expert guidance and mentorship to cross-functional teams, collaborating with engineers, security analysts and stakeholders to ensure the seamless adoption of Zero Trust principles.

Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity standards, regulations and frameworks, including NIST, FISMA and other applicable mandates.

Conduct risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities and develop proactive strategies to mitigate security risks across government networks and systems.

Produce clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and presentations to effectively communicate complex Zero Trust concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Stay ahead of emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating innovative Zero Trust solutions to strengthen the government’s overall security posture.
Skillset

Proven experience as a Network Architect, Security Architect or Subject Matter Expert, preferably within federal government or highly regulated environments.

Strong expertise in Zero Trust architecture, principles and implementation.

In-depth knowledge of identity and access management (IAM), network segmentation, data protection, and secure authentication methods.

Familiarity with federal cybersecurity standards and frameworks (NIST 800-207, FISMA, FedRAMP, RMF, etc.).

Hands-on experience with modern networking technologies, cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructures.

Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA are highly desirable.

Excellent communication and leadership skills.
