Senior Data Scientist

Our client, an AI-driven startup in the FinTech sector, is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to join the team in New York. The successful candidate will contribute to a blend of high-impact, short-term initiatives and ambitious long-term modelling work that stretches the boundaries of what can be achieved in the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

• Carry out actuarial analyses to forecast insurance costs and claim payouts.

• Apply advanced AI models to granular claims datasets.

• Refine and structure reinsurance transactions to improve efficiency and execution.

• Directly influence multi-million-pound reinsurance deals and present insights to senior industry stakeholders.

• Develop and maintain scalable data and predictive pipelines.

• Build and enhance the core models underpinning their AI platform.

• Contribute to defining best practice for applying AI within insurance at scale.

Skillset

• At least 4 years of relevant professional data science experience.

• A strong foundation in probability, statistics, and machine learning.

• Proficiency in Python and common machine learning libraries (e.g. scikit-learn, XGBoost).

• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) and their practical applications.

• A genuine interest in solving complex, real-world data problems.

• Previous experience working in a fast-paced startup environment.
