Responsibilities- Lead research efforts in LLMs and VLMs, covering model development, evaluation, optimization and benchmarking.

- Mentor and guide team members, encouraging a culture rooted in scientific excellence and open collaboration.
Skillset- PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a specialization in AI/ML.
- Proven track record of publications in leading AI/ML conferences and journals.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving research initiatives and managing complex technical projects.
- Expert-level proficiency in machine learning, with hands-on experience in PyTorch, LLMs and VLMs.

Our client, an AI-driven company, are hiring an AI/ML Research Engineer to join the team in New York. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing advanced systems that extract and reason over unstructured data at scale, seamlessly integrating into legal workflows.
Responsibilities- Enhance and scale the company’s core knowledge architecture to enable deep reasoning and knowledge extraction from unstructured data.
- Develop agentic systems that integrate structured knowledge with large language models to support intelligent analysis, question answering and reporting.
- Collaborate closely with product teams to ensure seamless integration into legal tech tools, driving accuracy and real-world impact.
- Conduct large-scale evaluations on real-world data, continuously optimizing performance and adaptability.
- Manage data annotation efforts, ensuring that models are trained on reliable, high-quality data.
- Lead the recruitment and management of a small, high-performing engineering team.
Skillset- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar.
- Prior experience developing AI products in dynamic, early-stage startups.
- Strong understanding of machine learning and natural language processing.
- Practical experience with integrating large language models into production environments, particularly in agentic or knowledge-driven systems.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, C# and Java.
- Experienced in databases and search technologies such as Lucene, PostgreSQL and Qdrant.
- Familiar with infrastructure and deployment using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Expertise in CI/CD and DevOps practices (GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Gradle).
Salary: $180,000 – $210,000
