Our client, a growing AI-driven startup, is hiring a Senior Backend Engineer to join the team in New York. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping both the product and platform, designing the APIs and infrastructure that power identity verification for millions of users.

Responsibilities

Architect and develop high-performance APIs and backend services that power the company’s platform.
Collaborate closely with product, design and frontend teams to deliver features from concept through production.
Actively contribute to product vision, roadmap planning and key technical decisions.
Take full ownership of major features and product areas, from initial design through deployment and iteration.
Write production-grade Rust for secure systems handling highly sensitive data.

Skillset

At least five years’ experience in Backend Software Engineering.
Previous experience of designing scalable, secure architectures from the ground up.
Knowledge of Rust, TypeScript, Postgres, Next.js / React, Pulumi, AWS and/or Vercel.
Hands-on experience in KYC, identity verification or fraud prevention is a bonus.
Background in cryptography or systems security is a plus.
Strong interest and experience building large-scale systems in Rust.
Experience operating at scale on AWS, with infrastructure-as-code tools.
