SWE – Tech Lead/Solutions Architect
Our client, a leading partner in the Financial Services industry, are hiring a hands-on Tech Lead/Solutions Architect to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping the technical vision, designing and building scalable systems, and mentoring engineers, while remaining actively involved in the codebase.
Responsibilities

Shape and guide the overall technical architecture and long-term engineering strategy.

Lead and mentor a remote overseas DevOps/engineering team of 4–5 developers.

Architect, design and develop scalable backend services and APIs.

Remain hands-on with development, actively contributing to the codebase.

Take ownership of features end-to-end, from design through delivery.

Manage system orchestration and integration across services and platforms.

Perform code reviews and uphold strong engineering and quality standards.

Drive technical planning, documentation and development best practices.

Facilitate or support Agile processes, including stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives.

Work closely with internal stakeholders, with occasional participation in client discussions.
Skillset
-
At least 8 years of professional software engineering experience.

Proven experience in technical leadership or solution/architecture roles.

Strong backend development background.

Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java (Spring Boot) and PostgreSQL.

Experience designing, building and scaling modern backend systems and services.

Demonstrated expertise in code reviews, engineering standards and mentoring developers.

Comfortable leading and collaborating with distributed teams.

Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical architectures and delivery plans.

Experience or exposure to DevOps practices and system orchestration.

Able to balance strategic architectural thinking with hands-on coding and implementation.
