Today’s guest is Shabaz Patel, Director of Data Science at One Concern in San Francisco. Founded in 2015, One Concern is a Resilience as a Service solution that brings disaster science, together with machine learning, for better decision-making. They quantify resilience from catastrophic perils, empowering leaders to measure, mitigate and monetize risk so disasters aren’t so disastrous.
Shabaz leads the Data Science team who are responsible for building models for the One Concern product. The team is focused on all aspects of data (such as tooling for collecting and generating data, collection), Machine Learning (training of algorithms and all of the associated ML tooling) and the applied science considering the hazard physics.
