AI in Action E08: Rahul Chipalkatty, CEO and founder at Southie Autonomy Works
AI in Action, Podcast | January 3 2019 | Mark Kelly
Welcome to episode eight of AI in Action, the podcast that breaks down the hype and explores the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.
Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in the United States.
Today’s guest is Rahul Chipalkatty, who is the CEO and founder at Southie Autonomy Works. Set up in 2017, Southie Autonomy Works are building intelligent robot software that enables any industrial robot to be re-purposed and re-deployed by anyone without robotics expertise or even computer skills. Operators can tell the robot what to do through augmented reality and the robot then programs itself via artificial intelligence.
Winner of the ABB Robotics Innovation Challenge and the RoboBusiness Pitchfire Competition 2018, Southie Autonomy Work’s product enables cost-effective high-mix automation by lowering setup time, cost and skill. They help businesses recoup ROI faster even in variable and shorter batch applications like kit filling, de-palletizing, and physical inspection, through their gesture-based, easy-to-use interface.
In the episode, Rahul will discuss:
How he became interested in Robotics
The motivation behind setting up Southie Autonomy Works
The role of humans with robots
Benefits that Southie Autonomy Works can bring to your business
Challenges they had to overcome
How AI will affect our everyday lives
Exciting projects at Southie Autonomy Works
