Welcome to episode 183 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.
Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in the United States and Europe.
Today's guest is Shabaz Patel, Director of Data Science at One Concern in San Francisco. Founded in 2015, One Concern is a Resilience as a Service solution that brings disaster science, together with machine learning, for better decision-making. They quantify resilience from catastrophic perils, empowering leaders to measure, mitigate and monetize risk so disasters aren’t so disastrous.
Shabaz leads the Data Science team who are responsible for building models for the One Concern product. The team is focused on all aspects of data (such as tooling for collecting and generating data, collection), Machine Learning (training of algorithms and all of the associated ML tooling) and the applied science considering the hazard physics.
In the episode, Shabaz will discuss:
How he got into the world of Data Science
The interesting work they do at One Concern
How they are applying AI and Data Science within natural disasters
The benefits that the platform brings to customers
