Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

Our client, a growing startup in the industrial software industry, are hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer to join their team in San Francisco. The successful candidate will work directly with customers to understand how their businesses truly operate and translate that insight into fully functioning systems that bring the product into real-world use.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with customers to rethink and redesign how their business operates.

• Translate real-world workflows, constraints and edge cases into systems that function effectively in practice.

• Develop, integrate and maintain code to ensure seamless real-time performance.

• Take full ownership of deployments, from initial engagement through to go-live.

Skillset

• Experience building systems designed for real-world complexity, not just idealised or simplified scenarios.

• Experience working with modern web and backend technologies, including Next.js, TypeScript, Python (FastAPI), PostgreSQL and C#.

• Strong understanding of how businesses operate, with the ability to engage customers as a peer rather than an observer.

• Proven ownership mindset, able to move quickly and independently without requiring detailed direction.

• High attention to detail, with care for how solutions look, feel and are experienced by customers.

Benefits

• Salary: $140k – $220k DOE.
