Our client, an AI-driven startup within the health finance industry, is hiring a Founding Engineer to join the team in San Francisco. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s product strategy, technical architecture, customer experience and overall growth trajectory, all while developing cutting-edge AI solutions that address complex, real-world challenges across the healthcare ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Design, develop and launch customer-centric product features, taking ideas from initial concept through to production deployment.
Create scalable AI-driven solutions, intelligent automation capabilities and next-generation healthcare technology platforms.
Partner directly with customers to understand business challenges, gather requirements and deliver high-impact solutions.
Take full ownership of the software development lifecycle, including solution architecture, development, testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
Develop and optimize applications leveraging APIs, Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI frameworks and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technologies.
Help shape the product roadmap and play a key role in strategic technical decision-making as an early member of the engineering team.
Work closely with the founders to establish engineering best practices, influence company culture and contribute to the long-term vision of the business.

Skillset

At least 2 years of experience designing, building and delivering full-stack applications from concept through to production.
Proven expertise working with APIs, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI-powered solutions and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) frameworks.
Hands-on experience developing and orchestrating agentic AI workflows, automation solutions, and autonomous systems.
Strong proficiency in React, coupled with a keen eye for product design, usability and user experience.
Experience with Go, PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Previous exposure to healthcare, emergency medical services (EMS), 911 operations, insurance or medical billing environments is beneficial.
NREMT certification or practical EMS experience is a plus but not essential.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to collaborate directly with customers and key stakeholders.
Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of projects in a high-growth startup environment.
