Our client, an established financial services organization, is hiring a Security Operations Specialist to join their team in Dublin on an initial day-rate contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting critical business services by delivering proactive security monitoring, threat detection and incident response, helping to strengthen the organisation’s overall security efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and respond to security alerts using Rapid7 IDR and Microsoft security technologies.

  • Investigate, triage, document and escalate security incidents as required.

  • Maintain day-to-day security operations across endpoint, identity, email and cloud environments.

  • Partner with a managed SOC provider to ensure timely investigation and resolution of security events.

  • Enhance detection capabilities by developing and refining playbooks, runbooks and operational processes.

  • Assist with incident response activities, including containment, remediation and recovery efforts.

  • Conduct proactive threat hunting to identify suspicious activity and emerging cyber threats.

  • Review threat intelligence and implement improvements to strengthen security controls.

  • Support vulnerability management, penetration testing and wider security assessment activities.

  • Produce security reports, assist with audits and contribute to operational resilience and compliance initiatives.

Skillset

  • Proven experience in Security Operations, SOC, Detection & Response or a Technical Security role.

  • Recent hands-on experience with Rapid7 IDR gained within the last 12 months.

  • Strong expertise in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and the wider Microsoft security stack.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently investigate, analyse and resolve security incidents.

  • Experience working with Managed SOC or MDR providers.

  • Strong understanding of Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR), security monitoring, threat hunting, incident response, phishing investigations and identity-based security threats.

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Security, Infrastructure, IT and GRC teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong documentation and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
