Our client, a growing Insurance company, are hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will help build the infrastructure that transforms one of the world’s largest and most complex insurance datasets, while having the opportunity to ship rapidly, tackle challenging technical problems and take on increasing ownership as the company grows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and deploy production software across backend, infrastructure and customer-facing product.

  • Build scalable data ingestion, processing and enrichment pipelines that extract structured information from complex, document-heavy insurance sources.

  • Integrate and enrich insurance data using APIs, asynchronous workflows and 100+ external datasets.

  • Develop AI-native models and workflows that transform unstructured data into actionable pricing intelligence, underwriting insights and placement decisions.

  • Build product experiences that enable customers to organize, analyze and act on their insurance portfolios.

  • Work closely with the CTO and founding engineering team to identify opportunities, make technical decisions and rapidly deliver solutions.

  • Take ownership of projects from initial concept through implementation, deployment and iteration.

  • Solve complex technical and data challenges while continuously improving the engineering architecture, tooling and development practices as the company scales.

Skillset

  • At least 2 years of software engineering experience, with a proven ability to ship production-ready products and features.

  • Previous experience as a founding or early-stage engineer, or in a small, fast-moving team with significant autonomy and ownership.

  • Strong full-stack engineering skills, with the flexibility to work across backend, infrastructure and customer-facing product development.

  • Hands-on experience building data-intensive systems, including APIs, data pipelines, asynchronous workflows and enrichment processes.

  • Comfortable working with unstructured and semi-structured data and solving complex data quality and integration challenges.

  • Strong interest in AI-native development, with experience using modern AI tools to accelerate development and improve productivity.

  • A strong bias toward action, with a focus on experimentation, iteration and shipping rather than unnecessary process.

  • Demonstrated ownership and initiative, with the ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with genuine curiosity about complex technical and business challenges.

  • Startup experience is highly valued; specific industry or technology experience is less important than your ability to think critically, build effectively and execute quickly.

  • Salary: $170k.

  • Equity.
