Founding Engineer

Our client, a venture-backed HealthTech startup, is hiring a Founding Engineer to join their team in San Francisco. The successful candidate will turn real customer challenges into products that make a difference, owning the journey from the first conversation through design, development, launch and beyond.

Responsibilities

• Take customer-facing features from concept to launch, building across the full stack.

• Build AI agents that streamline documentation, process claims and automate the management of denied claims.

• Partner with customers to understand their day-to-day challenges and uncover opportunities for better solutions.

• Lead technical delivery, from architecture and development through deployment and production support.

• Design intuitive interfaces that make complex workflows simple to navigate.

• Shape engineering standards, influence product priorities and build the foundations for the company’s growth.

Skillset

• At least 3 years of experience taking full-stack products from initial idea through to launch.

• Practical experience building agentic AI workflows and using AI agents to accelerate development.

• Experience integrating APIs and working with LLMs and RAG architectures.

• Strong React development skills, paired with an eye for thoughtful design and intuitive user experiences.

• Experience with Go, PostgreSQL or Google Cloud.

• Knowledge of emergency medical services, healthcare or insurance billing is a plus.

• Previous experience as a founder or founding engineer is a bonus.

• Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
