AI in Action, Podcast | May 27 2022 | JP Valentine
Welcome to episode 346 of the AI in Action podcast, the show where we break down the hype and explore the impact that Data Science, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence are making on our everyday lives.
Powered by Alldus International, our goal is to share with you the insights of technologists and data science enthusiasts to showcase the excellent work that is being done within AI in North America and Europe.
Today’s guest is Maher Hanafi, VP of Engineering at January AI in California. Founded in 2017, January AI believes that every day is a fresh start, that getting healthy is a team sport and that small steps add up to big change. January AI has assembled a multidisciplinary team of computational, food, translational and medical scientists to tackle unmet needs in people with or at risk for developing diabetes. Their multi-omic approach synthesizes wearable, food and microbiome data to make personalized recommendations and products to address hyperglycemia.
January AI’s new metabolic health program, Season of Me, helps you understand how your body uniquely responds to food, so you can avoid glucose spikes and build better habits in just 90 days. It is designed to give you real-time insights on how diet and exercise affect your glucose levels, from which foods to avoid to when a brisk walk can bring you back into a healthy zone. January’s other AI-derived innovations include nutritional labels for local restaurants and glycemic index for 16 million grocery items, recipes and menus.
In the episode, Maher will talk about:
The work January AI are doing within Digital Health
The role of AI and Machine Learning in their products
What his role involves as VP of Engineering
