Our client, an AI-driven startup in the pharmaceuticals industry, is hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will help build the next generation of AI-powered clinical review tools, by contributing to the design, development, testing and deployment of features used by pharmaceutical customers in live clinical trials.

Responsibilities

Develop and deliver new platform features using Python and TypeScript.
Enhance system reliability, scalability, performance and automated test coverage.
Support the development of data pipelines used to ingest, standardize and process clinical trial data.
Assist in integrating and evaluating LLM-powered workflows within a hybrid AI and heuristics-based architecture.
Partner closely with customers to understand how medical reviewers and data managers interact with the platform.
Collaborate with the CTO and founding team on architecture decisions and engineering best practices.
Take ownership of clearly defined projects from implementation through to deployment.

Skillset

At least 4 years of experience building and deploying production-grade software.
Strong backend engineering skills in Python or a similar programming language.
Ability to work across the full stack, including frontend development with React and TypeScript.
Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL and data modelling concepts.
Strong attention to clean, maintainable code, testing and software quality best practices.
Experience working with AWS or other major cloud infrastructure platforms.
Familiarity with AI tools, LLM-based applications or intelligent workflow systems.
Experience building or supporting ETL pipelines, large-scale data systems, or validation frameworks.
Previous experience working in fast-paced startup or early-stage environments is a plus.
Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, biotech or clinical trial technology environments is an advantage.
