Our client, AI-focused Insurance startup, are hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will be responsible to own core systems from day one, developing products that transform complex, unstructured insurance data into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

Develop data ingestion pipelines to convert insurance policies, schedules, loss runs and other complex documents into structured data.
Connect and enrich insurance data with insights from over 100 external datasets.
Create AI-driven underwriting and risk modelling workflows that inform pricing and insurance placement decisions.
Design and build customer-facing applications that simplify insurance portfolio organization, analysis and management.
Work across backend systems, infrastructure and frontend applications.
Take ownership of features from concept to launch, collaborating closely with the CTO and founding engineering team.
Apply modern AI development tools to streamline delivery and increase engineering productivity.

Skillset

At least 4 years of software engineering experience, with a track record of shipping products for real customers.
Experience as a founding or early-stage engineer or in a small startup team with a broad remit.
Strong full-stack capabilities, with confidence across backend development, infrastructure and customer-facing applications.
Practical experience building APIs, data pipelines, asynchronous workflows and data enrichment processes.
An interest in using AI and software to turn complex, unstructured data into useful information.
Initiative, sound judgement and the ability to work independently as requirements evolve.
Clear communication skills, openness to challenging assumptions and a commitment to taking ownership of results.
