Our client, an AI-driven startup in the pharmaceuticals industry, is hiring a Software Engineer to join their team in New York. The successful candidate will help build the next generation of AI-powered clinical review tools, by contributing to the design, development, testing and deployment of features used by pharmaceutical customers in live clinical trials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver new platform features using Python and TypeScript.

  • Enhance system reliability, scalability, performance and automated test coverage.

  • Support the development of data pipelines used to ingest, standardize and process clinical trial data.

  • Assist in integrating and evaluating LLM-powered workflows within a hybrid AI and heuristics-based architecture.

  • Partner closely with customers to understand how medical reviewers and data managers interact with the platform.

  • Collaborate with the CTO and founding team on architecture decisions and engineering best practices.

  • Take ownership of clearly defined projects from implementation through to deployment.

Skillset

  • At least 4 years of experience building and deploying production-grade software.

  • Strong backend engineering skills in Python or a similar programming language.

  • Ability to work across the full stack, including frontend development with React and TypeScript.

  • Solid understanding of relational databases, SQL and data modelling concepts.

  • Strong attention to clean, maintainable code, testing and software quality best practices.

  • Experience working with AWS or other major cloud infrastructure platforms.

  • Familiarity with AI tools, LLM-based applications or intelligent workflow systems.

  • Experience building or supporting ETL pipelines, large-scale data systems, or validation frameworks.

  • Previous experience working in fast-paced startup or early-stage environments is a plus.

  • Exposure to healthcare, life sciences, biotech or clinical trial technology environments is an advantage.
