Our client, an innovator in the insurance industry, is hiring a Security Operations Specialist to join their team in Dublin on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in monitoring, investigating and responding to security incidents while supporting the continuous improvement of the organisation’s overall security operations and cyber resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, analyse and respond to security alerts and cyber security incidents.

  • Perform alert triage, investigate potential threats and escalate incidents where appropriate.

  • Support incident response activities, including containment, remediation and post-incident recovery.

  • Carry out proactive threat hunting to identify and mitigate emerging security risks.

  • Work closely with Security, IT and GRC teams, alongside external SOC and MDR partners.

  • Enhance security monitoring capabilities, investigation procedures, documentation and operational playbooks.

  • Contribute to vulnerability management activities and continuous security improvement initiatives.

  • Support security reporting, compliance audits and operational resilience programmes.

Skillset

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience working within a Security Operations Centre (SOC) or Security Operations function.

  • Proven experience monitoring, investigating and responding to security alerts and incidents.

  • Strong experience working with SIEM platforms such as Rapid7 IDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk or equivalent solutions.

  • Solid understanding of Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) technologies and best practices.

  • Experience using Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and the wider Microsoft Security suite.

  • Strong investigative skills with the ability to assess threats, document findings and support incident escalation.

  • Experience collaborating with managed SOC or MDR providers is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of phishing investigations, endpoint security, identity protection and proactive threat hunting.

  • Previous experience working within financial services or another regulated industry is an advantage.  

  • Familiarity with DORA and operational resilience frameworks is a bonus.
